You don't have a soul.
You are a soul.

Spiritual
Companioning
“May your hidden self grow strong”
Ephesians 3:16
Spiritual Companioning, also know as Spiritual Direction, provides a safe space with a trained listener to help you explore your unique experiences and discover and deepen your own personal connection with God.
-
Spiritual Companioning provides a safe space with a trusted companion, guide, and trained holy listener—often referred to as a spiritual director. Through regular conversations, they journey alongside you, attentively exploring the invitations of God as your story unfolds. Together, you seek to discern how God is guiding you, uncovering the unique landscape of your inner terrain.
-
“Spiritual Direction is for anyone yearning for God.” (Richard Foster)
This yearning may appear in many forms -
As a sense of longing, discontent, desires unfulfilled, or simply an inner knowing that there is more.
A deconstructing of faith and a desire to recalibrate your image of God.
In a place of transition in life and faith. A liminal space of uncertainty and disconnection from God.
Or simply a Divine nudge to reach out for a companion to walk beside you on the journey.

Other care modalities like Counselling, Mentoring, Supervision, and Coaching.
Spiritual Companioning sits comfortably beside other care modalities and is especially vital for those in vocational ministry.
The following helps show the similarities and differences between Spiritual Companioning and other intentional and supportive care based professional relationships*
*taken and adapted from A Survey of Intentional 1 to 1 Supportive Relationships by Tim Dyer - The Johnmark Extension
Spiritual Companioning
Spiritual Companioning is the art of discerning with another the movements, challenges and invitations of the Holy Spirit in the individual’s life. Spiritual Companioning enables another to grow in intimate responsiveness to God
Mentoring
Mentoring is an intentional trust based relationship in which a more experienced person equips and empowers a mentoree to grow across a wide range of personal and professional life areas including leadership.
Therapy/Counselling
Counselling is an interpersonal process in which a client is enabled by a therapist to move toward healthy resolution of a specific issue through gaining personal insight and power to change.
Coaching
Coaching is a personalised process focussed on building a person’s capacity to achieve personal goals primarily through the acquisition and application of skills, self awareness, and transformative habits.
Supervision
Supervision provides an opportunity for a practitioner to reflect critically on their work with more experienced senior practitioners. It usually occurs within an organisational context and may be a professional requirement. -
Anything and everything! Talk about daily life, relationships, work, emotions.
Think less "spiritual" topics and more "what sparked something within you?" Did a laugh reveal pure joy? Did a conflict expose a deeper need? Explore these moments with your companion to uncover the movements of God in your life. -
Usually one hour once a month, but this is arranged by you and your spiritual Companion.
